Shooting victim still critical in hospital

Wife of slain pastor hopes son able to attend funeral...

SHOOTING VICTIM, Ezra Khan, 19, remains at the San Fernando General Hospital in critical but stable condition, hooked up to life-saving machinery.

Khan and his father, Pastor Casimir Khan, 52, were the victims of a home invasion/robbery, during which Casimir was shot twice to his chest in the garage of their Mausica Road, Arima, home, shortly after 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Pastor Khan is now officially listed as Trinidad and Tobago’s first murder victim for the year.

Police said the bandits were apparently after Ezra Khan’s big gold chain but the chain was not taken as the bandits fled after killing the senior Khan.

The bandits had struggled with both father and son. Ezra Khan was shot twice in his chin and chest.

Speaking with the Express at the Forensic Science Centre in St James yesterday, Khan’s wife, Evelyn, said both father and son were quite close and she could not bear having his funeral without his beloved son present.

“So we have not made plans as yet,” said the distraught woman who, besides facing a funeral for her husband, is now waiting and hoping her son makes a speedy enough recovery to attend.                                —GG
