A 28-year-old Gasparillo man was shot dead on Wednesday night by intruders dressed as police officers.
Hamandeo Manichand, of First Street, Harmony Hall, was playing cards with his wife, Lashell Foster, when two armed men entered around 8.15 p.m.
Investigators said the men were wearing police uniforms, with bandanas over their faces.
The couple was ordered to lie on the ground and Manichand was shot in the head. Foster escaped unhurt. Manichand died at the scene.
His brother, Rajesh, said gunmen stormed the family’s house twice in the past six weeks, searching for his brother.
“But this time, they found him and killed him,” he said.
Gasparillo police confirmed Manichand had reported death threats and was advised to leave his home, but he remained with his wife.
Rajesh Manichand said he saw his brother walking on the roadway near their home around 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
“He said his car shut down and he was looking for a jumper cable,” he said.
Manichand, who was unemployed, was the father of two children who were living with their mother in Mayo.
Foster and other relatives have since moved out of the house.
