One pump-action shotgun was seized along with green army fatigues, following police exercises in Laventille on Wednesday afternoon.
The exercise was spearheaded by Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Ramsubhag and Senior Superintendent Wayne Boyd, with assistance from Inspector Sahadeo Singh and Inspector Bernard Etienne, among other officers of Besson Street Police Station.
It took place in several key areas such as Dan Kelly, Eastern Quarry, and John John.
The officers made their way to Dan Kelly, where they searched an empty lot of land.
In the lot, they found a Mossberg pump-action shotgun with a quantity of ammunition. The officers also found 100 grammes of marijuana, as well as a faded green army fatigue pants and shirt.
The items were all seized and brought to the Besson Street station.
The shotgun, ammunition and articles of clothing have been taken to the Forensic Science Centre in St James, to undergo ballistic testing and dusted for fingerprints.
Five persons were also held on outstanding warrants, as well as for enquiries into robberies in the area.
They are to be placed on identification parades, following which they will be brought before a Port of Spain magistrate.
