ToolsShot in back of head: father identifies bodyA man who had been shot dead in Laventille over the weekend was identified yesterday as Careem Primus, aged 27, of Lady Young Road in Morvant. Around 11 p.m. on Saturday, residents of Nice Isles Trace, which is off Sugren Trace, Laventille, heard several gunshots but did not go out to investigate. Around 8 a.m. on Sunday, they found the body of Primus, with a single gunshot wound to the back of his head. His father, Charles Primus, spoke to reporters yesterday outside Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park, where he had gone to identify his son’s body and witness the post-mortem. He said he could not understand why someone wanted his son dead, adding that he was a God-fearing individual who even abstained from Carnival this year and instead opted to attend a Carnival weekend camp with Daybreak Assembly Tabernacle, located near his home. Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations. —GG |
