IN as little as two weeks, yet another murder occurred in the Carapo, Arima, area, but police say the two incidents are not related.
Yesterday's incident occurred at the corner of the Carapo Main Road and Kelly Trace at 3.25 p.m., police said.
The dead man was identified as 30-year-old Marvin Augiste, of Mantis Lane, Phase One, La Horquetta.
Police said Augiste stopped off at Sheriff Wrecking Service and Tyre Shop. While changing the front left tyre of his employer's five-tonne truck, a gunman walked up to him and opened fire, eyewitnesses told police.
Augiste was hit three times and died on the spot. The gunman then fled the scene.
A team of officers from the Arima CID, as well as the Region Two Homicide Bureau, including Supt Garth Nelson, Sgt Ganga Singh and Sgt Wayne Baptiste, visited the scene where they conducted enquiries.
Officers said they could not determine a motive for his death. His killing has taken the murder toll to 237, according to an Express tally. Three men were shot dead last Monday in Carapo.
In an unrelated incident, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad are investigating a report of the kidnapping of a Laventille man.
Police said Ricardo Daniel, 31, went missing on Tuesday, and his relatives received a ransom demand of an undisclosed sum for his safe release.
His parents are the owners of a business located along Laventille Road, Laventille.
Daniel's Honda Civic motor car was found abandoned in Barataria on Tuesday by police.
