NLCB chairman Winston Siriram told the Sunday Express last Friday that the board did raise queries into the hiring of Jevon Jeffrey and the award of the contract.
“We were told that (Jeffrey) was not affiliated with the company Fontaine Branding Solutions Ltd. We enquired about the procurement process because there were no supporting documents to substantiate the award of the contract. The board did raise an issue about this particular matter and we were assured that Jeffrey had no affiliation with the company,” Siriram said.
Siriram said instructions were given that the cheque ($511,750) was not to be issued after examining the invoice.
“The invoice was incomplete and not official. I found out that someone released the cheque after I instructed for a hold to be placed on it. I do not know who did it. The board requested a report on the matter but we have not yet been told who is responsible. If information presented is correct, the board will take the necessary steps,” Siriram said.
