A 34-year-old Aranjuez man was stabbed to death yesterday afternoon during an argument over money.
The murder toll for the year to date stood at 56, while the figure at this time last year was 39.
Police said at 2.30 p.m., the victim, Reginald Jackman, of Evelyn Trace, Aranjuez, was liming at Killies Bar, off Aranjuez Main Road, when he got into a shouting match with a man over some money.
The argument escalated, however, and the man grabbed Jackman and stabbed him several times about the body.
Jackman was taken to Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex at Mount Hope, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect, who fled the bar after stabbing Jackman, was later arrested at his Aranjuez Branch Road home by a team of officers led by Insp Kanhai of the Barataria CID.
The murder weapon was seized.
