By Susan Mohammed

THREE boat engines, a quantity of fuel and a power washer, together valued more than $100,000, were stolen from the Otaheite Fishing Facility on Sunday.

However, the items were recovered on Monday, hidden in bushes a short distance away from the fishing bay.

According to police, the items were secured in a locker room in a storage shed within the facility, late on Sunday night.

At around 4 a.m., fisherman Ramcharan Partap, 41, and two others, identified only as “Chris” and “Kim”, went to the locker room and discovered the chains and locks were cut.

Four of the rooms were broken into and emptied.

A report was made to the Oropouche Police Station and PC Moreno took up investigations.

At around 3 p.m. on Monday, a couple walking along the shore in Otaheite discovered the stolen items hidden under bushes, approximately 300 metres from the fishing bay.

The items were taken to the police station to be checked for fingerprints.
