A 25-year-old student was abducted, beaten and robbed of his valuables on Thursday night.
Devant Maharaj, of Mon Repos, was confronted by two armed men as he stepped out of his car at Cipero Road, Cross Crossing, San Fernando.
Maharaj was bundled into the back seat of his silver Nissan Primera car.
Police said he was taken to Ste Madeleine, where he was robbed of a watch valued $1,000, a chain and wristband worth $5,400, and cellphones valued $2,150 and $3,500. Maharaj was beaten about the head and face and thrown out of the vehicle.
Police said the gunmen shouted that Maharaj would find his vehicle at the same place he was abducted. Officers found the vehicle in the parking lot of a barbecue outlet.
And San Fernando police are searching for thieves who broke into a La Romaine business place and escaped with items valued $27,400.
Businessman Benjamin Yee Loy, 65, reported that he secured his store, Digital Junction—at Southern Main Road, La Romaine—on October 29 and returned a week later. Police said a quantity of electronic items and clothing were stolen.
