A 27-year-old man was arrested by police last night in connection with fraudulent claims of sexual molestation made against a Government official.
The man was detained at a house in Couva by police officers of the Couva CID following investigation by detectives of the Fraud Squad Unit in Port of Spain.
The suspect had allegedly claimed to police that the official made sexual advances to him when he visited his home in North Trinidad last year.
The report was made at a police station some six weeks ago, claiming that the incidents occurred in January and October last year.
In the report, the man claimed that the government official touched and bit his nipples at his (the official's) home. Police said this morning that the suspect is to be interrogated by fraud squad detectives today, and expected to be charged with extortion and other fraud offences.
He may be taken to court tomorrow.
