The Community-based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP) worker accused of molesting eight children near a primary school was interviewed by investigators yesterday.
Police said the 34-year-old suspect of Begorat Hill, Mayaro, was interrogated for several hours and would appear before identification parades this morning.
Investigators have also viewed footage from closed circuit television cameras in the area.
Eight pupils reported that the CEPEP worker walked passed them and touched their private parts while playing at a recreation ground during the lunch break on Monday.
The man was employed with a CEPEP gang to clean the field next to the school.
Teachers were informed of the incident and the matter was reported to the Mayaro police station. The suspect was arrested when he arrived for work at the field on Tuesday.
A Ministry of Education official said the ministry was aware of the report and an investigation was launched. The Express was told that the pupils were receiving counselling from the Student Support Services Unit at the ministry.
