Suspects in first murder for 2013 still in custody

By

HOMICIDE detectives are still quizzing the two men who were arrested last Friday in connection with the first murder for the new year.

Up to yesterday evening, the men were in custody at Morvant Police Station under interrogation by detectives following the death of 26-year-old Kevin Dover last Thursday.

Police said so far several witnesses have already given statements to investigators who are expected to approach Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard SC sometime this week for instructions.

The suspects, ages 21 and 23, were arrested around 8 p.m., on Friday in Barataria by members of the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF), based on the statements taken from the witnesses.

Dover, of Ninth Avenue, Barataria, was shot in the chest and abdomen while standing outside a shop close to where he lived on Wednesday night and died at hospital the following morning.

He and his friend Tarik David, 20, were approached by three men who opened fire on them before escaping.

David was also shot to the left arm, head and neck.

He is still warded at hospital in a critical condition, according to police.
