THA secretary ‘improving’ after stroke
Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Infrastructure Secretary Hilton Sandy, who suffered a stroke Saturday morning, is showing signs of improvement, according to the Division’s communications officer Colleen Holder.
Doctors are awaiting the 72-hour observation period after starting medication, to give a more accurate prognosis on the health of Sandy.
Sandy suffered a stroke at his home and was rushed to Scarborough General Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
He was moved into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and follow-up testing and assessments are being done hourly, with his family at his bedside.
His wife Candice Chang Sandy remains distraught and has described the incident as both unexpected and sudden, as the family finds strength from their three-year-old son, who has been asking for his father and said: “Daddy is coming home soon.”
THA Chief Secretary Orville London and other THA assemblymen have visited Sandy at hospital.
In a release, the Division of Infrastructure said Sandy is getting the best possible care and his condition is being closely monitored as he shows signs of recovery.
