T&T netballers for England stint
Two Trinidad and Tobago netballers head to England today to take up contracts with the Grangetown Netball Club of Middlesborough.
University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) netballer Kielle Comelly and Jullisa Allan are both eager to match their skills against players from England, and are expected to be contracted between six and nine months.
Comelly, 27, describes herself as a country girl and is from Manzanilla. She comes from a sporting background, her mother being former Marvellites netballer Margaret Francis.
“I am very excited at the chance to play with a foreign team because I want to see the type of netball out there and do well enough that it provides the way for other players from Trinidad and Tobago to get similar opportunities,” Comelly said.
Likewise, 24-year-old Allan welcomes the opportunity to play in England. Allan played for eight years at the elite level in T&T.
“I am ecstatic. I can’t wait,” Allan said. “It’s an opportunity I never thought I would have had.”
