The Office of Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley today announced that PNM senators Penelope Beckles-Robinson and Fitzgerald Hinds would be replaced by incoming senators Camille-Robinson-Regis, Avinash Singh, and Diane Baldeo-Chadeesingh.
Robinson-Regis is vice-chairman of the PNM and a former senator. Singh was the PNM's candidate in the Chaguanas West by-election that was won by Jack Warner. Baldeo-Chadeesingh is a TV6 News anchor.
The following is the statement issued by the Office of Leader of the Opposition.

Leader of the Opposition Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley today advised President Anthony Carmona to revoke the senatorial appointments of two PNM senators, namely, Mrs Penelope Beckles-Robinson and Mr Fitzgerald Hinds with effect from 12:00 PM tonight, Tuesday 3rd December 2013. A vacancy in the Senate already existed through the departure of Mr Terrance Deyalsingh who now sits in the Lower House for the Constituency of St Joseph.
As such, His Excellency was also advised by Dr Rowley to appoint Mrs Camille Robinson-Regis, Mr Avinash Singh and Mrs Diane Baldeo-Chadeesingh to fill the PNM vacancies in the Upper House. Mrs Robinson-Regis will be Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate.

In response to his appointment, Avinash Singh wrote on his Facebook page "I would like to thank the Honorable Leader of the Opposition of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. The Honorable Keith C. Rowley for giving me this opportunity to serve in the capacity as a Senator. His record continues to be proven and leadership credible. This opportunity reaffirms his commitment to young people and it will give a voice to thousands of citizens and in particular farmers, especially in Central Trinidad who now have representation in the Upper House of our Parliament".
