Tableland farmer killed by bees

A Tableland farmer was found dead, his body covered by bees, in his garden on Tuesday.
Winston Cooper, 75, was discovered by his son Kaden Cooper.
According to a police report, Winston Cooper had gone to his garden with his son at Naparima Mayaro Road, New Grant.
Kaden Cooper told police he last saw his father alive at around 9 a.m. when he left him to go to another part of the garden.
When he returned an hour later, he discovered his father motionless, and a swarm of bees covering him.
A report was made to the Tableland Police, who contacted officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Insect Vector Control and the Apiaries Department. Police said a bee hive was discovered on a tree stump near the body.
A post mortem conducted by Dr Hubert Daisley at the San Fernando mortuary found that the elderly man died of a pulmonary embolism.
PC Baksh of the Tableland Police station is investigating.
