Police said Monroe, 34, was driving along the Naparima/Mayaro Road, at La Gloria Estate, when he lost control and slammed into a tree around 2.45 p.m. on Monday.

The men were taken to hospital, where 32-year-old St Clair, the front-seat passenger, was treated for broken ribs and punctured lungs.

St Clair, of Local Road, Tableland, underwent emergency surgery and died around 6.30 a.m. the following day.

Ramkhalawan, of Monkey Town, Barrackpore, is listed in stable condition at hospital, while Monroe was discharged.
