Teen charged with beating, rape involving 15-year-old girl

POLICE were called to the home of a 19-year-old Rio Claro boy on Monday after he was allegedly found beating his 15-year-old girlfriend who had been vacationing at his home.

The boy was taken into custody and charged with beating the teenaged girl, and for having sexual intercourse with her. He was expected to appear in court this week.

According to police, at around 11.05 p.m. the suspect's older sister called the Rio Claro Police Station and told an officer that the suspect was beating the teenaged girl at their home.

A party of police officers including PC Arjoon and WPC Faria responded and detained the suspect.

The teenaged girl, a fourth form secondary school pupil, told officers that she had been staying at the suspect's house since July, the beginning of her school vacation.

She allegedly admitted to police officers that she and the 19-year-old suspect were sexually active, and that he had beaten her.

Police took the schoolgirl to the Rio Claro Health Centre where she was examined and a medical report was obtained.

The suspect was subsequently charged with the offence of sexual intercourse with a female between the ages of 14 and 16, and assault by beating.

He was expected to appear before a Rio Claro Magistrate this week.
