Teen dies in accident

A TEENAGER died in a head-on collision between a cargo truck and panel van yesterday.

Dillon Moonoo, 19, who was employed in his family’s catering business, was killed when his head shattered the windscreen of the panel van he was driving.

The crash happened on Rivulet Road, Couva, at around 2.30 p.m.
Police were told that Moonoo was driving west along the roadway when he swerved and crashed into the truck heading in the opposite direction.

The driver of the truck, employed with Trinrico Steel and Wire Products Limited, escaped unhurt.Police said Moonoo, of Crown Trace, Enterprise, died at the scene.

Moonoo was not married and had no children. His parents and siblings arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. The accident caused a massive traffic pile-up along the main roadway connecting Solomon Hochoy Highway to Point Lisas Industrial Estate. Moonoo’s body was removed to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary
where an autopsy is expected to be performed today.

Officers attached to Couva Police Station visited the scene. Corporal Lalchan is investigating.
