A CHAGUANAS teenager was shot and killed by police three hours after he was allegedly involved in an armed robbery.
Nicholas Sylvester, 19, of Enterprise, was shot dead yesterday after police said he robbed a businessplace at Main Road, Chaguanas.
According to police, at around 11 a.m., Sylvester entered the store and announced a hold-up.
He demanded cash, jewelry and laptops from the employees.
He escaped on foot with the loot, police were told.
A report was made to the Chaguanas CID and at around 2 p.m. police received information that the suspect was seen in Lange Park.
Senior Superintendent of the Central Police Division Johnny Abraham led a party of officers to the area where the suspect was seen.
Police said Sylvester was confronted and he fired several shots at them.
Police returned fire and Sylvester was hit.
He was taken to Chaguanas Health Facility where he died while undergoing treatment.
Police said they retrieved a .38 revolver near Sylvester’s body.
