...murder toll now 28 for the year

A La Horquetta teenager was murdered last night and his brother left in hospital after both were shot while liming near their home.
Jabari Thompson, 19, of Evens Reece Street, Phase Four, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was shot in his head and upper body.

His brother, Gerald, was shot in the leg and is warded at Port-of-Spain General Hospital. According to a police report, shortly before 10 p.m. the brothers were liming with a group in the living room of another residence near their home, when a white Mitsubishi Lancer pulled up and two gunmen got out of the vehicle.

Police said the group scampered for safety but the gunmen chased the brothers and fired several shots at them. Visiting the scene were Inspector Siewdass, PC Carabalo and Pc Duram of the La Horquetta police station. An autopsy is expected to be conducted on Thompson's body today at the Forensic Science Centre.
Thompson's killing has brought the murder toll to 28 for the year.
