Teens in court for pensioner's murder

By Susan Mohammed

TWO teenagers are expected to appear in court today charged with the murder of Erin pensioner Stephen Lee.

The two suspects, an 18-year-old man of Rousillac and a 19-year-old man of Embacadere, San Fernando, were arrested by police officers last week.

Yesterday, police submitted a file on the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

By afternoon, police received instructions to charge the teenagers with murder.

Lee, 83, was allegedly killed for his car.

His body was found on February 26, under a pile of discarded tyres, several days after his daughter Benecia Lee reported him missing, at Erin Police Station.

Police officers discovered his body at an oilfield facility belonging to Petrotrin, in the vicinity of Three Sisters, Guapo.

Lee's throat had been slit.

The father of nine and grandfather of 17 lived with his wife, Ivy, two daughters and a grandson at Buenos Ayres.

The suspects are expected to appear in Point Fortin Magistrates' Court.
