The Office of the Prime Minister today disclosed that Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar will be attending the 2014 World Economic Forum in Panama. Persad-Bissessar leaves this afternoon, and returns on Thursday.
The following is the statement from the Office of the Prime Minister -
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar will attend the 2014 World Economic Forum hosted by Panama.
The Prime Minister departs from the Piarco International Airport on Monday 31st March at around 6pm and is scheduled to arrive in Panama later that evening.
The forum will take place over a period three (3) days from Tuesday April 1st to Thursday April 3rd. The Honourable Errol Mc Leod will act as Prime Minister during this time.
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar will attend as well as participate in several events. On Tuesday 1st April Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar will attend a workshop entitled “Closing Gender Gaps in Latin America". At the centre of discussions will be the issue of women’s economic empowerment in the region and avenues for advancement.
The Prime Minister will also appear on Wednesday 2nd April as a panelist at a session entitled “Opening Pathways for Shared progress" . Key on the agenda for this session will be an examination of the strategies which Latin American countries are pursuing to achieve inclusive growth.
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar is scheduled to return to Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday 3rd April.
