Therese Baptiste-Cornelis, former Trinidad and Tobago ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, will be returning to this country in two weeks' time, says Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Dookeran.
Speaking to the Express by phone, Dookeran said Baptiste-Cornelis had requested that their meeting, which was scheduled for yesterday, be deferred for two weeks.
He said he will meet with the former ambassador upon her return in mid-September.
Last month, Baptiste-Cornelis' was recalled by the Foreign Affairs Ministry following strong criticisms over a presentation she delivered on cultural diplomacy in Geneva.
A video of the 30-minute lecture was uploaded on Youtube on June 28, creating a wave of controversy as Baptiste-Cornelis spoke at length about many things, including her stint as health minister, how her friendship with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar motivated her appointment, and also how she met her husband online.
No official word has been given as to who will replace Baptiste-Cornelis, but former national security minister Brigadier John Sandy has been tipped for the job.
