Three Lotto thieves nabbed by cops

OFFICERS of the Northern Division thwarted the escape of three thieves on Monday minutes after they robbed a Lotto booth in St Augustine.
According to police reports, the three men ages 21, 23 and 24 all from Barataria, broke into the Lotto booth around 8.15 p.m. and made off with $3,413. The Lotto booth is located near WE Bar along the Eastern Main Road, St Augustine.
The men boarded a maxi taxi along the Priority Bus Route. However police were alerted and intercepted the maxi near the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
The arrest was part of an ongoing police exercise in the division on Monday which began around 10 am and ended at 9 pm. The exercise was led by Snr Supt David Abraham and included Sgt Vitus Hernandez, Sgt Rene Katwaroo and other police officers.
The officers of the division also arrested four men who were in the process of dismantling a Nissan Frontier at around 6.30 p.m. The men who are between the ages of 19 and 40 hailed from Wharf Trace, Maracas St Joseph, New City, Fyzabad, and Enterprise.The men were all held at Wharf Trace, Maracas St Joseph. The vehicle had been stolen from Cunupia one day earlier.
The exercise also netted two men from the Malabar area who were arrested for being in possession of a home made shotgun along Train Line Road, Malabar, and 200 grams of marijuana at One Way Drive, Malabar.
