AFTER three men had been shot while being driven through Nelson Street, Port of Spain yesterday afternoon, a woman calmly walked up to the injured men and robbed them of cash, cellular phones and jewelry.
The incident occurred at 3.50 p.m.
Up to last night the victims had not yet been identified.
As the white Hyundai H-100 pick-up was being driven south along lower Nelson Street, there were two men in the passenger and middle-seat of the van’s cabin, along with the driver. There was another man seated in the tray of the van.
Police said a gunman may have seen someone he knew in the van and opened fire.
The man in the tray jumped out and ran, along with one of the men in the cab, who was shot, while the two other men, including the driver, were shot several times about their bodies.
Police said a total of seven shots had been fired.
The gunman is said to have walked off.
One of the shooting victims ran south along Nelson Street, towards Independence Square, while two others remained in the van bleeding.
As the men lay in the van, a woman, who the police suspect was a cohort of the gunman, walked towards the vehicle, carried out a thorough search of the victims and robbed them.
The victim who ran off, as well as the two who were injured, were spotted by the police and taken to Port of Spain General Hospital.
Besson Street CID officers are continuing investigations.
