By GYASI GONZALES gyasi.gonzales@trinidadexpress.com

THREE weeks into the new year, and Trinidad and Tobago has now recorded 38 murders.

Alfred Coltis, 55, was shot and killed in Carenage this morning.
He was murdered as he stood near the corner of Smith Hill and Western Main Road, Carenage. Several gunmen pulled up in a Nissan Almera and killed Coltis. The motive is unknown.

Two of Coltis' relatives have been killed since 2011, police said.

Meanwhile, at noon today, Prince Olatungi Denwood, 27, was walking along lower Henry Street, Port of Spain, when he was shot, near the Rattans clothing store. Police responded and arrested a suspect. The injured man was taken to hospital.
