ToolsTobago man drowns in TocoWHAT was supposed to be a day of fun and enjoyment ended in tragedy for a Tobago family on Saturday, after one of its members drowned while bathing at a beach in Toco. The dead man has since been identified as 21-year-old Ricky Dabreau, of Lance Noir, Tobago. Police said around 2.30 p.m. Dabreau, along with other friends and relatives, was in the water, when he got into difficulty before before being lost from sight. A frantic search was conducted by his relatives and other bathers, but to no avail. However, a short while later, his body resurfaced, police said. When he resurfaced, police said Dabreau's relatives checked his vital signs and realised he was still alive before proceeding to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He was later taken to the Toco Health Facility, where, despite his family's best attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Toco police are continuing enquiries into the incident. —Rickie Ramdass |
