TRAFFIC gridlock in west Trinidad and Port of Spain is considered to be so bad this evening that the National Operations Centre has issued a statement advising motorist to follow the law and not panic. The NOC did not give a reason for the traffic, but the Express was told it is as a result of roadwork in Morvant. The NOC, which can view the traffic along major roads in Trinidad from its location in Port of Spain, has issued the following statement -
Executive Director of the NOC Commander Garvin Heerah is assuring all citizens that the traffic situation presently in the West Peninsula, POS and environs is being addressed by the Traffic Branch of the TTPS and the coordination from the NOC.
Commander Heerah is also assuring that there is no need to panic nor is this a result of any critical incident. Motorists are being asked to comply with the traffic management and the TTPS officers.
Motorists are also being asked to obey the law, desist from driving on the shoulders and be courteous to fellow drivers at intersections and junctions.
There is Air coverage providing real time updates of the situation to the NOC
