AN unloaded gun was used to rob a supermarket and employees of thousands in cash and valuables in Marabella on Wednesday.
Within hours of the robbery, police captured the alleged thieves, recovered the loot and seized a firearm without bullets in a house not far from the crime scene .
According to a police report, around 11.15 a.m. three thieves entered E-shop Supermarket at Southern Main Road and announced a hold-up.
One of the robbers pointed a firearm at Pei Ying Chen, 31, a cashier, and Nalini Ramlal, 25, a supermarket attendant. The two were made to lie on the floor.
Ying Chen was robbed of an Iphone valued $4,400 a cell phone valued $150, and $100.
The thieves also stole $1,900 from the cash register, and a quantity of alcoholic beverages.
A party of police officers of the Marabella CID, Operations Unit (South) and Southern Division Task Force responded to the scene.
The police officers went to Ghandi Street, Marabella where they arrested two men, aged 17 and 21, who live in the area, and an 18 year old man of Cocoyea Village, San Fernando. Constable Moses is investigating.
