Two firearms recovered in PoS, Macoya

 TWO more firearms were removed from the streets between Sunday night and early yesterday morning in Macoya and Port of Spain.

The first seizure took place around 11 p.m. on Sunday by officers of the St Joseph Police Station, while on patrol along El Dorado Road, Macoya.

According to reports, Cpl Persad and PC Chadee were on mobile patrol when they noticed a man standing along the roadway fidgeting with his pants waist and acting in a nervous manner.

The officers attempted to question the man but he ran off, dropping a .22 firearm in the process. He was not captured. After examining the pistol, officers said they found it to be loaded with eight rounds of ammunition. 

In the other incident, Port of Spain Borough police, acting on information received went to Coco Lounge, Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook, where they conducted a search of a man standing along the pavement.

During the search, the officers found a nine millimetre handgun in his possession. He was arrested and handed over to officers of the Woodbrook Police Station, said police.
