TWO suspected thieves were shot by a San Fernando businessman this morning during an attempted robbery.

The suspects, who police said were from Tarouba and La Horquetta, were detained by police in Mon Repos.

According to a report, at around 9 a.m. the two suspects went to the businessplace of import distributor Wei Li Chung at Hart Street, and pointed a shot gun and a revolver at him and his employees.

The businessman drew his licenced firearm and shot at the suspects.

The thieves grabbed cell phones and ran out of the building.

Police were called, and Senior Superintendent Cecil Santana and a party of police officers of the Southern Division Task Force, San Fernando and Mon Repos CIDs responded.

Police arrested the suspects a few streets away from the crime scene, and recovered a homemade shotgun with two rounds of ammunition.

One of the suspects was shot in the groin, the Express was told.

Police are currently at the scene searching for the revolver. The two suspects are being treated at hospital.
