Two policemen injured in crash

A POLICE CONSTABLE assigned to Las Lomas Police Station remained in stable condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope, yesterday after he and a colleague were injured when they smashed a police car last week.

Reports are that on the morning of Thursday, December 20, a family from Boycayto Road in Las Lomas contacted the Las Lomas police after their house had been broken into and thousands of dollars worth of items stolen.

They said they contacted the Las Lomas police and a few hours later PCs Narine and Jordan arrived and took statements from the family and then told them to visit the station on Monday (December 24) in order to file a "proper" report.

The Express was told that as the officers were heading back to the station they lost control of the police car and crashed.

Both officers were injured and they were taken to Mt Hope Hospital where PC Narine was treated and discharged while PC Jordan had to be operated on extensively.

Chaguanas police are investigating the cause of the accident. —GG
