UNC St Joseph supports Kamla

The United National Congress (UNC) St Joseph Constituency Executive has come out in support of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who on Thursday night fired the area's Member of Parliament, Herbert Volney, the former minister of Justice, over the Section 34 fiasco.

In a news release yesterday, the UNC St Joseph Constituency Executive said it "wishes to re-emphasise our commitment to our great party and the People's Partnership Government, led by our esteemed Political Leader and Prime Minister, the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

"Notwithstanding the unfortunate turn of events in recent days, we stand ready and able to continue the work of building and developing the UNC force within our great constituency of St Joseph.

"We pledge to continue working with our duly-elected Member of Parliament, the Honourable Herbert Volney, in his quest to improve the lives of all in St Joseph."

The release added: "We take this opportunity to thank the Honourable Herbert Volney for his service to country as our first-ever Minister of Justice.

"The foundation that he has laid will ensure the future success of this ministry."
