A THREE-CAR smash-up along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway in Valsayn on Tuesday resulted in a 22-year-old man becoming the country's latest road fatality.
The death of Daran Mahadeo, of Bamboo Settlement, Valsayn South, has taken the country's road fatality figure for the year to 11.
Mahadeo died after the accident close to the Cipriani Labour College.
According to police reports, around 4.20 p.m., another motorist, Kirby Oliverie, 25, was driving his grey Toyota Hilux west along the highway when he collided with Mahadeo's Nissan Almera which was turning into Bamboo Settlement.
In turn, Mahadeo's car collided with a Nissan B-13 driven by Keon Charles, of Paul Street, Chaguanas.
Also in Charles's car was a female passenger, identified as Antoinette Charles, said police.
Mahadeo and Antoinette Charles were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope, where Mahadeo was pronounced dead a short while later.
The woman was treated and eventually discharged.
Investigations are continuing.
