BUSINESSWOMAN Vicky Boodram was in good spirits yesterday as she faced the court to once again petition a magistrate to place her on bail on several counts of fraud.
Boodram was seen laughing and talking to defence attorney Larry Williams before he made an application for bail to be granted to her on 109 new fraud charges.
Two weeks ago, Boodram was hospitalised, suffering from hypertension and heart-related problems.
Last week, Williams asked Port of Spain Magistrate Anna Ryan to place his client on bail after she read the 109 charges to Boodram.
This was denied and the matters transferred to San Fernando.
Boodram, 30, of Siparia, appeared before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan yesterday.
Williams asked that she be placed on bail for the charges that back in 2010, she took more than $1.3 million from 109 people through fraudulent means and transferred to her estranged husband, Ravi Arjoonsingh, and her company, Travel and Ship Ahoy Cruise Ltd.
Williams said that Arjoonsingh was granted $2 million bail on these offences and he asked that Boodram be allowed the same amount.
Rambachan placed Boodram on the $2 million bail to cover the 109 charges. She was told to return to court on December 6.
