DEPUTY political leader of the United National Congress (UNC) Dr Roodal Moonilal has effectively killed the political ambitions of Anna Deonarine, the former deputy political leader of the Independent Liberal Party (ILP).
So said ILP chairman Jack Warner in a telephone interview yesterday in response to a photograph of Moonilal and Deonarine at an Independence Day Classical Singing Competition hosted at the Fun Splash Water Park, Debe on Monday.
Warner said Moonilal did the same thing to former hopeful for the post of political leader for the People’s National Movement (PNM) Pennelope Beckles-Robinson.
Last December Beckles-Robinson was photographed with Moonilal at a curry duck and table top beating competition held in Debe.
In May, Beckles-Robinson was defeated by Dr Keith Rowley in the PNM political leadership election.
“It was this same Moonilal who politically killed Penny Beckles by calling her to a duck eating competition so what he has done now is to make Mrs Deonarine history, the shortest political history ever in Trinidad and Tobago,” Warner said.
“He has politically killed Penny Beckles in his curry duck eating competition and he has now killed Mrs Deonarine in this singing competition,” he said.
Warner said the ILP remains “unfazed” by Deonarine’s resignation from the party.
“We in the ILP remain unfazed we have work to do and we shall do it,” Warner said.
