Warner to 'face the Flying Squad'

National Security Minister Jack Warner will have to answer several questions on the Flying Squad issue in the Senate today.

On the Order Paper are a number of questions. PNM Senator Fitzgerald Hinds wants Warner to state whether he is aware that a former National Security operative Mervyn Cordner has publicly stated that he and others established a Flying Squad with the full knowledge and approval of the Ministry of National Security and had began covert operations in crime fighting on behalf of the Ministry.

Hinds wants to know whether Warner had any conversation or agreement with Cordner in this regard and whether he instructed any official in his Ministry to have discussions with Cordner.

Warner is also being asked whether the Ministry provided any resources of any kind in the establishment and support of this entity and its activities, and what action did Warner take following his publicly-stated promise to revive the Flying Squad.

The Senate will also debate the Birth and Death Registration Amendment Bill and the Marriage Amendment Bill.
