Watap is Chaguanas Band of the Year

Watap Promotions has won Band of the Year in Chaguanas. The Couva-based band’s presentation, Expression, was led by Adrian Clarke. The costumes were designed by veteran masman Stephen Derek of Midas and Associates.

Central Elite placed second, while defending champion Intruders-Invaders copped third place.

The band portrayed five sections: Love is From the Heart, Laughter is the Best Medicine, Diamonds are Forever, Birds of a Feather Flock Together and The Nile is the Life Blood of Egypt.

Marlon Spencer of Watap Promotions won Carnival King with his portrayal, “D Mythical Fire Bird”. The Carnival Queen title went to Petal Rambharose, of Animal House Production, with her portrayal of “Royal Passion”.

Junabo Productions’ Cheers to 20 Years won the Jouvert large bands category, while Innocent Fun’s Mardi Gras placed second. Third place went to Mud Warriors’ Mud Ahoy.

Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan said he was pleased with Carnival 2014.

He congratulated the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, municipal police and volunteers for ensuring the borough enjoyed a safe season.
