THE FAMILY of Jennifer Ali, who went missing in February, believed she has been murdered. They also believe that a relative may be responsible for her disappearance and death.
Ali, 52, was last seen wearing a brown top and black track pants around 6 p.m. on February 25. She lived alone at Morne Diablo and often stayed with relatives at Lachoos Road, Penal, because she tended to her chickens not far from that residence.
Ali has been a poultry vendor at the Marabella market for 25 years.
She never married and had no children.
In March, Ali's brother-in-law, Nam Mohammed, told the Express that the day Ali went missing, she went to tend to her chickens.
"She would usually come and stay on evenings with her aunt, sit in the gallery and do up her deposit books, and when she was going home she would deposit her money in the deposit box in the bank. She was doing that when she was called away and she just left everything on the table and went. She left her vehicle keys and cell phone and everything on the table. The only thing missing is the money that she was going to deposit. Her deposit books said around $16,800 was the amount."
Mohammed said everyone was confused as to what could have happened to her. He said the compound at Lachoos Road, Penal, where she was last seen, was secured with proper fencing and a remote-controlled gate.
Police said Ali's disappearance was "an absolute mystery".
Relatives have searched the forested area off Legall Trace in Penal, and located the building where she was last seen, but found nothing.
However, they said that Ali recently inherited a property which may be the cause of someone wanting to harm her.
A report was made to the Penal Police Station the day after she went missing. Anyone with information can call the Penal Police Station at 647-1233.
