POLICE are seeking the public's assistance in the identification of a young woman who was found dead on an open plot of land in Diego Martin, with her hands and feet tied and clad only in pair of bra and underwear.
The murder toll was 78 up to today, while the toll at this time last year was 73.
Investigators said that around 7 a.m. a caretaker on an estate at Cameron Road, Petit Valley in Diego Martin was on his way to work when he saw the body of the girl believed to be in her late teens. Police said that her feet was bound and her hands were tied behind her back. They also said that the, "Jane Doe," was dark-skinned and of African descent.
A team of officers from the St James CID led by Insp Henry Dann as well as officers of the Homicide Bureau visited the scene yesterday. After being viewed by a District Medical Officer the body was ordered moved to the Forensic Science Centre.
A postmortem will only be done after the body has been identified by relatives.
Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations and although there were no visible marks of violence on her body they believe that she may have been raped and strangled.
