DAYS after her estranged lover, a former policeman, was found chopped and shot near her home, a Sangre Grande mother of two was chopped and shot on Tuesday night by four men who stormed her home pretending to be police.
The murder victim is Keisha Sanchez , 32, of #2 Taitt Trace Circular, Guaico , Sangre Grande.
According to a police report, around 9.45 p.m Sanchez was at her home with her mother, Onella Legen, her 11-year-old daughter and another female relative.
Sanchez’s relatives told police they heard a loud banging on the front door and male voices shouting “police!”.
Sanchez opened the door and four masked men, one armed with a firearm and another with a cutlass, entered the house. Sanchez began to fight with the man armed with the cutlass and she was dealt several chops about her body. A finger was severed as she fought with the four men, police said.
Relatives told police the man with the firearm fired several shots and Sanchez was hit in the head and lower back.
Last Saturday, Sanchez’s estranged boyfriend, former police constable Junior Khan, 53, who lived at Green Acres, Foster Road, Sangre Grande was found chopped and shot near to Gomez’s home.
A police source told the Express yesterday that Khan had served a number of years in jail after he was found guilty of the possession of a large quantity of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking
When he was eventually released from jail after serving his time, he began a relationship with Sanchez.
The source said however that nine months ago the relationship went sour.
The source said that he would often counsel Khan and Sanchez but he added that his efforts bore little fruit as the police would still receive reports of violence between the two.
The police source also said that although they were separated, Khan would still visit Sanchez at her home in a bid to reconcile the relationship but on Saturday at 7.05 p.m., Sangre Grande Police received a call about an injured man found near Taitt Trace Circular.
He said when officers arrived on the scene they met Khan on the road with his left leg broken, several bruises about his body and a bullet wound behind his left shoulder blade.
They took him to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.
The murder toll for 2013 up to yesterday was 322 compared with 334 last year.
