Jassodra Gangaram, the woman who was shot along with two men in Carapichaima on Sunday, died at San Fernando General Hospital on Monday night.
A 23-year-old suspect is currently in police custody, assisting officers in their investigations into the killing.
Gangaram, of Sinaswe Street, Bank Village, Carapichaima, was standing near the roadway with a group of people, when masked gunmen opened fire around midnight.
Two men, identified as Presado McAllister and Balroop Sweetbody, were also injured.
Police said the victims were at Roopsingh Road, when a black vehicle pulled up and two masked gunmen came out.
The group of limers, including children, had returned home from Macqueripe and were continuing their lime on the roadway, police said.
Officers of the Freeport CID and Central Division Task Force responded and the victims were taken to Couva Health Facility. They were transferred to San Fernando General Hospital.
Police said Gangaram was the sister of 31-year-old Anil Gangaram, who was found dead in a drain in Freeport three weeks ago. His decomposing body was discovered with one hand tied behind his back.
An autopsy had found Anil Gangaram died from a blow to his head. The body was identified by his sister, Jassodra.
Police are trying to determine whether Jassodra Gangaram’s death was connected to her brother’s murder.
