MYSTERY surrounds the death of a 79-year-old man, who was found yesterday afternoon with his head submerged in a bucket of water.
Next to his body was what police said was a suicide note asking God to forgive him for taking his own life.
Police said around 1 p.m. Joseph Boland, of Finland Street, St James, was found by his son in the yard of his home.
Officers said Boland was last seen alive by his daughter around 10.30 a.m. However, some three hours later, when his son arrived at the house, he found his father dead, with his head in the bucket.
Investigators led by Snr Supt Ishmael David and Insp Henry Dann visited the scene and carried out enquiries.
Police said the note which was found stated that Boland was fed up of his pain and suffering and he felt he had no other choice but to end his life.
Police said they were classifying the death as a suicide, but further investigations still had to be carried out.
And on Monday afternoon, a 36-year-old Laventille woman jumped to her death minutes after being admitted to the Port of Spain General Hospital.
She has since been identified as Lisa Roberts, of Picton Street.
Police said Roberts was admitted to Ward 34 of the hospital for seizures and other medical issues, but shortly after being taken to the ward she threw herself from the third floor of the building and died minutes later.
An autopsy was performed on the body at the hospital yesterday morning.
