Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 60-year-old Ann Bain, wife of chairman of Flavorite Foods Ltd, Godfrey Bain.
Details remained unavailable last night but police sources told the Sunday Express that Ann Bain was found lying face down in the pool of her Westmoorings home yesterday morning by her husband.
Initial reports indicated that Godfrey Bain told the police that he had left his home at about 7 p.m. on Friday and only returned to the premises at about 6.15 a.m. yesterday.
When he couldn’t find his wife inside the house he made his way to the pool area where he observed her body in the pool.
Bain dived into the water and brought his wife’s body to the tiled ground and attempted to resuscitate her.
When that failed he notified the emergency health services as well as the police. A party of officers including Insp Thomas, Cpl Campbell and PC Griffith visited the scene.
Ann Bain was officially pronounced dead by a District Medical Officer and her body was ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James where an autopsy is expected to be performed tomorrow to determine the official cause of death.
Police sources said yesterday they had yet to take an official statement from Godfrey Bain regarding certain sensitive details on the incident, but they were expecting to make contact with him either late yesterday or this morning. Investigations are continuing.
