Tools$10m cocaine seizedFOUR men appeared in court yesterday charged with having cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Ronnie Mendoza, Akile Jerome, Damian Macoon, Andre Augustine appeared before Siparia Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor. They were represented by attorney Ramesh Deena and Ramnarine Soorjansingh. Mendoza, Macoon and Augustine were each placed on $150,000 bail. Jerome who had two counts of trafficking of drugs read to him was placed on $400,000 bail. The matters were adjourned to August 6. Sgt Dridgenath Sookraj prosecuted in the case. It was last week Wednesday that officers from the Organised Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau (OCNFB) stopped and searched a vehicle in which they allegedly found 2.14 kilogrammes of cocaine. It was also alleged that an auto garage shop was searched and 22.32 kilogrammes of cocaine was found. Officers said the drugs had an estimated street value of over $10 million. |
