'Peaceful' dad laid to rest

Beaten, stabbedin promenade attack...

By Susan Mohammed

Akil Adams, the father of one who was stabbed to death after he accidentally bumped into a group of women on the Brian Lara Promenade in Port of Spain last Saturday, was buried on Tuesday in his south hometown.

A funeral service was held for Adams, 22, at the chapel of the Elite Funeral Home Ltd at Main Road, Point Fortin, after which he was buried at the Point Fortin Public Cemetery.

Adams, of Production Drive, Sea Lots, was walking along the promenade with a friend when, in the vicinity of First Citizens, he bumped into one of the women.

Police said the women began to argue with Adams, and one stabbed him with a knife that punctured his heart and lung.

Adams was also beaten during the confrontation.

The women ran off and a truck-driver took him to hospital.

Adams died at the Port of Spain General Hospital several hours after the attack.

His sister told the Express he did not deserve to die in such a manner since he was a peaceful person.
