POLICE are investigating the murder of a St Joseph man who was shot dead early yesterday morning.
Police reports said Rondell Alexander, alias "Piper", was shot multiple times about the head and chest.
Alexander, 32, of Stanisclaus Street, Old St Joseph Road, Laventille was at Nelson Street, Port of Spain in the vicinity of building 45-47 when he was killed.
Police say residents heard several loud explosions around 7 a.m. and upon checking, found the man.
Officers believe he was killed as a result of gang violence.
Other reports yesterday suggested that Alexander was killed in reprisal for the killing of Kevon Butler, alias "Four Five", who was shot dead on November 19 in reprisal for the shooting death of 11-year-old Kareem Alphonso in Laventille.
Kareem was the son of murder accused Barry Alphonso, who was shot and killed at Dorata Street on August 25.
ASP Ajith Persad, WP Sgt Paul and Cpl Bacchus visited the scene and conducted enquiries yesterday.
Alexander's murder has pushed the toll for the year so far to 364 according to an Express tally.
