'Suspect in phone killing gone into hiding'

By Susan Mohammed

POLICE are searching for a 20-year-old Claxton Bay man in connection with the stabbing death of Claxton Bay teenager Lester Richards on Sunday.

Police said the suspect is known to them but has gone into hiding.

Meanwhile, an autopsy on the body of Richards, a third form pupil of Gasparillo Composite School, was expected to be performed yesterday at Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park.

Richards, of Valley Road, Diamond Village Extension, was stabbed during an argument over a BlackBerry cellphone.

The teenager's relatives told police a man stole the phone from him and on Saturday night he retrieved it from the thief.

The next day the thief confronted Richards while he was at a parlour purchasing bread. The argument escalated and Richards was stabbed once in the chest.
