The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) has increased its expenditure on advertisements not because of the THA election on Monday but to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago and the THA's 32nd anniversary.
Attorney Joseph George had written to the Integrity Commission, on behalf of the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP), by letter dated January 17, raising concern over the THA's expenditure on advertisements to highlight its accomplishments in the run-up to the THA election.
A release from the Information Division of the THA yesterday explained its increased media blitz.
"Since the 50th anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the 32nd anniversary of the Tobago House of Assembly, the Department of Information has increased its activities in the free and paid-for media..." stated the release.
"This was also combined with activities and input from all divisions as we continue to celebrate the THA's 32nd anniversayr...," the release added.
